Advocates for City Agriculture Publicizes Capability Constructing Grant
Advocates for City Agriculture (AUA), in partnership with Meals:Land:Alternative (FLO) is worked up to announce the awardees of the 2021 Capability Constructing Grant.
It is a continuation of the collection of grant alternatives AUA launched since 2020 on the offset of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, AUA awarded over $200,000 in grant funds to over 80 Chicagoland rising operations by means of the COVID-19 Farmer Assist Grant and the primary spherical of Capability Constructing Grant. The Capability Constructing Grant program is funded by means of AUA’s partnership with FLO and displays a set of values that have been established by a cohort of Chicago city farmers. The grant continues to serve farm operations that are:
- Small Operations — lower than 5 acres and/or have an working funds of lower than $250,000
- Owned and/or led by BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Folks of Shade), trans, non-binary, and/or gender non conforming individuals.
- Offering meals and different companies for low-income communities
The Capability Constructing Grant offered grant awards ranging between $2,500-$20,000, with functions being reviewed by a beautiful group of meals programs educators, growers, and advocates, together with:
- Jesse Schaffer of The Speaking Farm
- Gina Roxas of Trickster Cultural Middle
- Azizah Ali-Ashraf of A&P Paradise Farm
- Erin Kwiatkowski of a nationwide nonprofit
- Nora Bryne of a nonprofit well being heart
- Erana Jackson Taylor of Ujamaa Co-op
